The Cause of Obesity

Title: What is the cause of Obesity?

I’d like to thank Mike Ferguson for his article Published:Saturday, September 12, 2015,  Highlighting how Polk County is the “seventh most obese metropolitan area in the Country …”.

However the balance of his article, along with the touted Polk Vision 5-2-1-0 Initiative, is nothing more than repeating the “mantra” we have heard over the past 30 years; that “it is calories and not sugar” that is the problem thus “less calories and more exercise” has been the “medical solution,” yet people are fatter and sicker today than ever before in history. Why?

Can we now address the origin behind this illustrious obese distinction: It’s called The Metabolic Syndrome, which includes:
·         Heart Disease,
·         Lipid Problems,
·         Hypertension,
·         Type2 Diabetes,
·         Dementia,
·         Cancer,
·         Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome and
·         Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

The Metabolic Syndrome accounts for 75% of the Global Health Costs and impacts over 60% of Americans.

If there was one substance, ingredient, or poison that is infused into our entire food supply, and identified as a direct cause of the Metabolic Syndrome, and that substance was known to be 8 times more addictive than Cocaine, one might want to know what “it” was.

It’s called Sugar:

·         in most of its forms to include: Sucrose, High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), Fructose, and its

·         Substitutions such as: Acesulfame potassium, Agave nectar. Aspartame AKA: Equal, NutraSweet, Neotame, Stevia leaf extract, Saccharin AKA: Sweet’N Low, Sucralose AKA: Splenda , Sugar alcohols AKA: Sorbitol, xylitol, mannitol, for example.

Before we have string of scientist, on both sides of this issue, emerge touting why “their” view point is etc; research the following references and decide for yourself:
  • ·         Dr Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology.  There are a string of mini medical school courses on this subject.
  • ·         John Yudkin who in 1972 wrote Pure White and Deadly”
  • ·         The Science Channel National Geographic Best Documentary 2015 - The Secrets Of Sugar.
  • ·         Documentary, “That Sugar Film” by Damon Gameau

If you refuse to learn, no one can help you.  If you choose to learn, no one can stop you.
