The purpose of this site is to fill the gap left when, on 27 January 2011, the Lake Ashton Living website took down the resident discussion areas, that, until that time, afford this outlet and venue for it residents.

If a negative statement is made against an individual etc, it MUST be supported by public and official documentation. If, however, a posting is just an attempt to marginalize, slander or otherwise attack the HOA, CDD, Management or individuals, then such posts will be deleted.

Disability discrimination

Discrimination against people with disabilities in favor of people who are not is called ableism or disablism

Disability discrimination is a form of discrimination or social prejudice against people with disabilities.   The "ableist" societal world-view is that the able-bodied that are the norm in society, and that people who have disabilities must either strive to become that norm or should keep their distance from able-bodied people. A disability is thus, inherently, a "bad" thing that must be overcome.

Federal Law that is germane:
Summary of Americans with Disabilities Act:

The ADAAA renews Congress’ commitment to ensuring that all Americans with disabilities are able to participate to the fullest possible extent in all facets of society.
By making the threshold definition of disability in the ADA – under which individuals qualify for protection from discrimination – broader, the ADAAA provides protection for persons previously excluded by Supreme Court cases.

One may expect that future cases under the ADA will now focus less on the threshold question of whether a person is disabled, and will focus more on whether discrimination occurred, including whether an accommodation or modification was unjustly denied.
